Description: The term "Hazara" referres to the type of knotting and translates to "thousand". There is not an actual city or region responsible for the so-called Mahal carpets. At the end of the 19th century, Arak, or Sultanabad, was both the main weaving and marketing center for all weaving in the area. More recently, the name Mahal has been used to describe a particular group of carpets, usualy floral, asummetrically knotted, many featuring bleached white cotton wraps and dyed blue cotton wefts. The knotting indicates the origin as stated. Condition: See photos for condition. There is some discoloration and areas with light staining. Sku# JD4Q2J
