What We Accept/Do Not Accept

Miss Daisy's Consignment & Auction House has very strict quality standards, we are not a thrift store.  All items accepted by Miss Daisy's must be in GREAT condition (an 8 on a 10-point scale).  We do not accept broken or incomplete items.  All items must be thoroughly cleaned before brought into the store (free of stains, pet hair, etc.).  Items will be rejected if at any time it is discovered that the item has any of the following:  rips, stains, tears, fading, worn spots, missing hardware, loose or missing veneer, unstable, rusted, inoperable parts (like drawers) or contains odors (pets, cigarettes, cigars, etc.) You do not want tp pay to have movers bring items here that could be rejected.

ITEMS WE ACCEPT

  1. Sofas and sofa sleepers (with clean stain free mattresses)
  2. Love seats
  3. Sectionals
  4. Settees
  5. Dining sets (with the exception of those referred to in the “ITEMS WE DO NOT ACCEPT” List.)
  6. Dining Tables, bar tables, counter height tables
  7. Sets of dining chairs (4 or more) (dining, bar and counter)
  8. Side chairs
  9. Occasional Chairs
  10. Lounge chairs
  11. Chaise Lounges
  12. Buffets
  13. Credenzas
  14. Dressers, chest, nightstands (if a set), gentlemen’s chests, Chests of drawers.
  15. Bookshelves – made of real wood – no particle board
  16. Side tables, entrance tables, console tables, nesting tables plant stands, basically really cool small tables.
  17. Mirrored Furniture
  18. Coffee or cocktail tables 
  19. Small entertainment centers – that are not made of particle board or built from a box
  20. Café / bistro tables and chairs, including ice cream tables and chairs.
  21. Floor Lamps (no halogen, torchiere, or lamps with old or dangerous wiring)
  22. Table lamps (with the exceptions above), desk lamps, swinging lamps
  23. Mirrors (framed and no cracks)
  24. Framed Art – subject to approval and strict scrutiny)
  25. Vases, bowls, decorative display pieces. Including floor vases.
  26. Statues (not “Figurines”)
  27. Leather items (especially sofas, sectionals chairs and love seats
  28. Recliners (must be operational)
  29. Power recliners, power sectionals/sofas, power theatre chairs. (must be operational)
  30. Desks, Desk Chairs, Task Chairs, writing desks, file cabinets (not metal or commercial)
  31. Ottomans
  32. Crystal vases, stemware sets, glass sets, bar ware sets, candle sticks, etc. (with no damage – check for chipping)
  33. Decorative plates with stands
  34. Candle Sticks, or holders
  35. Bars, Bar stools, counter stools, and wine racks.
  36. Cabinets
  37. Trays and table display items
  38. Asian style furniture
  39. In style animal print chairs, etc.
  40. Coat racks
  41. Contemporary Corner Cabinets
  42. Kitchen Carts and Freestanding kitchen Islands
  43. New interesting stylish light fixtures – subject to strict scrutiny and safe wiring)
  44. Updated stylish brass or gold furniture and accessories
  45. Updated stylish chrome, silver or gray furniture and accessories
  46. Decorative screens
  47. Acrylic contemporary furniture
  48. Benches of all kinds
  49. Decorative items, boxes, bowls, etc.

ITEMS WE DO NOT ACCEPT

  1. Armoires of ANY kind
  2. ARMOIRES, ARMOIRES, ARMOIRES– this includes Desk Armoires, Armoires masquerading as wardrobes (if it deep enough to hold an old TV – we will not accept it. Any cabinet that has electric inside of it, has retractable doors (pocket doors) or has a space in the back for a TV cut-out (whether it is cut out or not)
  3. Large Entertainment units or multi piece wall units
  4. Any unit that is designed to hold an old style TV
  1. Multi-part entertainment units – We do not take ANY of the pieces. Not even the bookcases
  2. Display cases that look like they are from part of a multi-unit set
  3. China Cabinets – even with a dining set (subject to certain exceptions)
  4. Patterned or striped upholstered items (subject to exceptions)
  5. Incomplete sets of anything – dining chairs, single side chairs, dishware, glassware\
  6. Mattresses
  7. Large multi-piece desks, home office or desk units.
  8. Anything damaged –  No rips, tears (on the seams), stains, missing veneer, missing hardware, missing shelves, missing keys, missing anything, broken drawers or doors, scratches, gouges, unsteady (wiggly chairs), broken frames, missing glass, scratched glass, tarnished or rusted metal, things broken and glued back together, chipped or cracked glass
  9. Anything STINKY – No odors- pets, cigarettes, moldy mildew smell, basically any kind of smell
  10. Anything with damage from an animal – cat scratches, etc.
  11. Lamps without shades or finals (the thing on the top), or harps (the thing that holds the finial and shade), yellow, worn or damaged lamp shades, or old/frayed/unsafe wiring. All lamps should be tested when they arrive.
  12. Figurines – ceramic figurines, small animals, etc.
  13. Anything handmade or not professionally painted
  14. Anything from IKEA, Wal-Mart, K-Mart, Target, Home Goods, etc.
  15. Political anything – Anything that could be construed controversially political.
  16. Wingback Chairs – especially if patterned.
  17. Particle board anything, including MDF.Anything that had to be built by the customer from a box.
  18. 1950-70’s bedroom sets – with perhaps a few exceptions
  19. Bookcases not made of wood.
  20. Anything with holes cut out of the back.
  21. Dirty anything – especially fireplace stuff, glassware, stemware, vases, decanters, etc. Nothing dirty or filmy.
  22. Cribs (even if they make into toddler beds)
  23. Games without all the pieces.
  24. Garage sales, goodwill or other thrift store items
  25. Anything that cannot be priced higher than $25.
  26. Toys
  27. Waterbeds
  28. Card tables and chairs (the metal folding kind)
  29. Grandfather clock or mantel clocks – UNLESS they are very cool, have all their parts, and are working.
  30. Pie top tables (with the flip up top).

QUALITY GUIDELINES:

Miss Daisy's accepts quality furniture in nearly-new condition (an 8 to 10 on a 10-point scale).   Merchandise must be clean and ready to be presented for resale.  The better is looks, the better it sells!

  • Upholstered and Leather Furniture must be clean and stain/odor free.
    • Should be vacuumed on top of and under cushions
    • Free of rips, stains, tears, worn upholstery
    • Free from discoloration from sunlight or inconsistency of fabric
    • Smoke free/ Odor free/ Free of pet hair
    • Cushions should have little to no indication of sagging or lack of shape.
    • Stable construction
  • Hard Goods (Tables, Bookcases, Bedroom furniture, etc…)
    • Dust and cob web free.
    • Free of watermarks and discoloration.
    • Free of major scratches, chips or other noticeable flaws.
    • No broken or missing hardware pieces.  Drawers and doors must operate properly.
    • Hardware for items that are not pre-assembled must be in a plastic sealed bag and labeled appropriately.
    • Legs and frame must be sturdy

* There will be a quality inspection of your pieces upon arrival at the store prior to final acceptance for consignment.  We reserve the right to decline any items that do not meet our quality standards.
