Ashiyuki Gigado - "Reading Letters" is an antique color woodblock print dated 1823 by Gigadō Ashiyuki (fl. 1813–1833). The work depicts kabuki actors Anashi Kitsusburo and Nakayama Icho. It is presented in a frame with plexiglass and a single mat.
Artist biography: Gigadō Ashiyuki (fl. 1813–1833) was a Osaka-based ukiyo-e designer best known for kabuki actor portraits in ōban size. He studied under Asayama Ashikuni and was also a haiku poet. His prints often depict performers from the Osaka stage, and works by Ashiyuki are held in major museum collections worldwide.
