During the pandemic, I adopted a regional focus, preferring to observe my immediate surroundings rather than consume images on a screen. I often document objects placed by humans in public spaces, both in residential and business areas. These object arrangements contain records of the people who live in the area, elements of stories that serve as inspiration and reference for my drawings. I often record furniture left at the curb for others to adopt. Sometimes furniture are inanimate witnesses to domestic scenes then abandoned on the curb for adoption by others. This mysterious, passive exchange of objects seems both intimate and public. I think of these drawings as a personal handwritten correspondence about a particular time and place.
