Artist biography: Bruce Wolfe (1941–2023) was an American sculptor, painter, illustrator, and designer renowned for figurative work and portrait commissions. He studied at San Jose State University and the San Francisco Art Institute, taught figure painting and sculpture at institutions including the Academy of Art and the College of Arts and Crafts, and produced numerous public busts and monuments for notable figures and organizations. Wolfe’s career encompassed sculpture, promotional graphics, and other media; his work extended to poster and design projects, including theatrical and cultural commissions. He passed away on December 27, 2023, leaving a documented legacy in American figurative art and sculpture.
