Pakistani Pesahwar "Chobi" Rug - Wool on Cotton Foundation

Description: This rug displays a curious weave and as such make it's origin difficult to define. However, the colors, and how they have been applied, are consistent with a range seen in the defined group of Pakistani weavings made in Peshawar and Lahore, referred to as "chobi " carpets. The design is also curious, in that it appears based on a design style and pattern drawing seen in the jail carpets produced between 1850 and 1920 in Arga and Amritsar in India.
